Intimacy occurs when one witnesses their reflection from the perspective of Other. To be almost one thing but not exactly it. A mirror is a delicate threshold of transformation between an image and its reflection. The reflection is seeing your imago, similar but not a replica. It folds in itself when the imago looks back at you.
Doppelganger is an exhibition presented by Syracuse University’s L.A. Turner Semester Residency Program and made possible through the generous support of Marylyn Turner Ginsburg Klaus and Chuck Klaus and Syracuse University's School of Art.
Pegah Bahador/Dramamachine (b. 1998, Tehran) is a multidisciplinary artist who works between images, language, and video. In their work, they imagine how obsession and invisibility are tied to violence and pain.
Jalal Ghias Beygi (b. 1998, Tehran) is an interdisciplinary artist. He explores the nature of existence and its relationship with technology, emphasizing the cyclical decay of the body and opposing technological acceleration.
Gary-Michael Tuzinkiewicz (b. 1995, New York) is an artist whose work is made from a blend of natural and industrial materials, photography, and drawing based on a queer perspective. Their sculptures and wall works look at how human identities, societal formalities, and ecological systems are linked. Frequently immersing themselves into the natural landscape, photography and drawing are used to document these moments of connection between seeing and being.
